I love holidays and cookouts but I have to say not drinking and staying out of the sun really stinks. Yesterday we went to a graduation party from 4- 6:30 then ran home and went to a cookout from 8 - midnight. I was absolutely exhausted. My body and I need to have a talk. I'm concerned for when I got back to work. How am I going to have energy to work, take care of the house, etc? Stupid chemo gets in the way of everything. I also didn't know how to deal with people I don't know very well. Not drinking, staying out of the sun and having a giant gash on my boob makes people ask questions. Luckily by the time we got to party #2 I actually had a plan. I told people I wasn't drinking because I was on medication and told people the gash was from surgery. No need to get into details with people I don't know. However, if you tell someone you don't know, its from chemo they had one of two reactions. 1) Stop talking to me 2) Ask too many questions. So at least now I have a strategy.
I'm also on a hunt for a long-sleeve shirt and a hat so I can enjoy the sun a little. I talked to my fertility doctor on Friday. My estrogen levels were 100% normal and slightly on the low side but my vitamin D levels were low. I've read that high estrogen levels make the tumor grow so I'm contemplating stopping birth control. Also vitamin D is the cancer domination (my husband's phrase) vitamin. So I need to get more of it. I guess being in the sun is the best way to absorb it. You can absorb it from milk and cheese but sun it better. So shirt + vitamin D here I come!
