Port Removal

I've had my port for almost a whole year now. I was reading today about when I had the port put in. Here's the pictures from last May when the port was put in:




I'm posting a new picture of how the incision site looks after almost a whole year:






It's a little fatter and wider than when it was first put in, but it's found a nice home depressed into my skin. I keep wondering...

• When will they take it out?
• Should I go back to work or wait until after the surgery?
• I hear that some people get keloid scars when they are removed - will I get one?
• Is getting plastic surgery vain to remove the ugly scar? Or do I wear it as a battle scar, proud and mighty?
• What will the port look like? I want to see it when it's removed
• Will the purple veins in my right arm finally go back to looking normal when the port is removed?

I need to do something else! Worrying and thinking about it has kept me from moving away from the computer today.
