Last time I posted after a bone treatment, I was a little early saying "everything went great!". After that post I landed in the ER for 2 consecutive days. So this time around, I decided that I should be more careful with my status update.
Yesterday I had Zometa (bone strengthening drug) for the second time. The visit was LONG due to my nurse having some issues with basic math. I had my 2 hours of fluids before they would give me my bone drug. The fluids is a sugar water substance to make sure that my body absorbs the bone medication. During that time the husband and I watched Dexter. Side Note: I'm loving Dexter but in a children's hospital the character Deb is a little raunchy when she's overheard by the nurses. Anyway, so the fluids went just fine. The bone drug should be given over 30 minutes but it took over an hour. My nurse (who is new) was giving me 100ml of Zometa. She set the rate at 50ml per hour... where it should have been 200ml per hour. I don't check their work but I'm thinking maybe I should from here on out. She felt awful about her mistake.
Yesterday I came home and was wiped out. I took a nap for 2 hours and let the tv watch me. Needless to say, almost 24 hours since the Zometa I'm feeling good. No chest pain and no fever. Here's to hoping this continues!
Hopefully the positive start to 2011 is a sign of good things to come this year!! :)
