I've officially been on my new medication for 3.5 weeks. At first I was worried. Worried that with a new drug, I would have the same side effects as last time. I can say that almost 4 weeks into the medication that I'm feeling fine. I never anticipated that Nexavar would be so different than the methotrexate/vinblastine.
Here is my normal Monday - Friday. Get up and do work-like things from 7 - 5pm. Seriously, it's just my normal day. Then between 5 and 5:30 I take my medicine at work. My drive home is 35-40 minutes. Once you take the Nexavar you can't eat for an hour. So by the time I'm home, my waiting period is over. I drink 8 - 8 ounces glasses of water during the day and I make sure at least one is during that hour waiting period. Then normal life resumes and I make dinner, etc.
The first week was rough with the skin allergy to a new lotion. My skin is still very fragile and keeps drying out. The more water I drink and lotion I put on the better. My feet are a little sore but not like I imagined they would be. They are better than anticipated, as are my hands. I'm putting vasoline on my hands and feet every night to keep them moist.
Honestly, there are small changes that I've noticed but they are barely noticable to me. So minor I forget to blog about them. The only major thing they noticed is my heart rate is low. They worry a little about prolonged QTC but my tests come back normal. I find out around the 2 month mark if the drugs are working. I can only take them and pray it's working.
